Overview
The Standards section explains how the platform supports medical coding systems, enabling organizations to consistently classify, analyze, and exchange clinical data. Standardized coding ensures interoperability, accurate reporting, and seamless integration with electronic health records (EHRs) and analytics platforms.
Supported Coding Systems
The platform supports the following standard medical coding systems for both C-CDA (Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture) and PDF documents:
ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision):
Used to classify diagnoses and medical conditions. Mapping patient conditions to ICD-10 codes enables structured reporting, billing, and epidemiological analysis.
SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine – Clinical Terms):
Provides a comprehensive clinical terminology for conditions, procedures, and findings. SNOMED coding supports detailed clinical documentation, semantic interoperability, and decision support.
LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes):
Standardizes lab and diagnostic test results. Mapping lab tests to LOINC codes ensures consistent representation, trend analysis, and cross-system integration of laboratory data.
Document Support
Coding is supported for both document types:
- C-CDA Documents: Full support for ICD-10, SNOMED CT, and LOINC coding. The platform automatically extracts and maps codes from structured C-CDA elements to ensure accurate, interoperable data.
- PDF Documents: Full support for ICD-10, SNOMED CT, and LOINC coding. The platform extracts and maps codes from unstructured PDFs, bringing the same standardized coding to scanned and faxed records.
